I started out in agility in 1990 and first began with ADCH Annie Mo Bannie FDCH in USDAA, which is all there was in the U.S. at that time. She wasn't eligible for AKC Agility and looking at her photo below you can see why. Our next dog, Chelsea, suffered a spinal embolism in 1994, the year the AKC program was implemented, so she didn't either. Chelsea was the first MAD Labrador Retriever and so very close to that ADCH before she suffered her medical accident. She lived another 5 years afterwards and was a very valued family member. Little Lady Lace earned an MX after her ADCH and retired before Jumpers With Weaves was even a class in AKC. In 1997 I became employed by the American Kennel Club as an Agility Field Representative, and at that time I was no longer eligible to compete in AKC Agility. Samson, had just earned his OA and was active in USDAA as well. I continued competing in USDAA until Samson became ill and later was diagnosed with cancer. He was just one qualifying score in Gamblers away from his Master Gambler title and his ADCH. Although he has retired from competition he remains here with us as a very much beloved companion and pet! I feel very fortunate that he has outlived the original prognosis given to us.
