Golden Pond Update 4.21.04. The ecosystem is stable! The water is clear, the fish, snails, plants, and the breeding toads are all happy! We have our calendar marked to see how long it takes for our first toad tadpoles to arrive. These are Bufo Woodhoussi Woodhoussi, lovely in color and beautiful in voice. The Chihuahuas love the pond water, so flavorful, and they especially enjoy their own private fountain. If you look just below (or to the right of) the White Holey Rock you'll see a toad "spitter" (oxygenates the water). This is where the Chihuahuas especially like to drink their water.
The pond is shaping up! There are now water plants in the pond as well as some plantings among the rocks surrounding the pond. The brick pathway has now been replaced with a moss stone pathway. The Chihuahuas love it!
My Mother's Day 2000 baby Redbud tree in 2004. It's really blooming now!
The latest project, a gold fish pond. Work started in February 2004. The things you can do when you live in Texas! Swimming around in our own little Golden Pond are 5 butterfly comets. These photos were taken on a rare sun filled day in Texas of 2004. This has been a record breaking wet spring season.
These red and white Ryukin goldfish reside indoors.
